Hot Tub & Swim Spa Delivery Guide

If you are considering the purchase of a hot tub or swim spa and would like to understand the delivery costs and installation requirements, you have come to the right place. Our discounted hot tub delivery package is £750 and includes your cover, cover lifter, standard delivery, commissioning, and a chemical starter pack. Swim spa delivery is priced on application, as crane access is required and a site survey will be needed to determine the final cost. All swim spa delivery details will be explained in detail to ensure every aspect of the process is clear from the outset.

Once your hot tub order has been placed, we will provide you with a personalised copy of our delivery guide for reference right through to installation. This will outline the exact requirements for your chosen model, ensuring you have the correct base preparation and electrical supply in place.

Requirements

The spa must be positioned on a flat and level base. There should be no more that a 20mm change in level across the spa. The size of the base should take into consideration the positioning of steps. If a cover lifter is to be fitted, this will require 450mm clearance at the back of the spa and 200mm at each side.                    

Positioning

Access is required to the front of the spa, which is the side adjacent to the control pad. Therefore this side should not be placed against a wall. It is vital that water drains away from the spa and it is not allowed to collect around the spa base. Even where the spa is sheltered, water will be spilt from the spa during normal usage.

Concrete Slab

A concrete slab should be at least 100mm thick. It should be sufficiently flat that the spa doesn’t rock when positioned.

Decking

Decking should be at least 25mm thick & supported at 600mm intervals. If the decking is on a raised frame, the frame must be suitable to carry a weight of up to 3,000kg. Not suitable for swim spas.

Paving Slabs

Paving slabs should be laid on an even bed of sand or concrete with minimal gaps. They must be level so that the spa doesn’t rock when positioned. Not recommended for a Swim Spa base

Gravel

A gravel surface can be used, but will require weed membrane, which must allow sufficient drainage.

The Base

The Electrical Supply

You will need to arrange for a qualified electrician to install a permanent electrical supply for your hot tub. All hot tubs require an earthed 240v single-phase supply, and all electrical circuits must be protected by a suitable RCD/MCB.

Some models operate on a standard 13 amp supply and can be connected to a normal 3-pin socket. However, most models require more than 13 amps, in which case we recommend installing a 32 amp supply.

If a 13 amp socket is being used, it must be located within 1.5 metres of the hot tub, but positioned far enough away that it cannot be accessed by anyone using the spa. Any exterior socket must also be weatherproof.

Where a dedicated supply is installed, the cable should be long enough to reach the centre of the hot tub, plus an additional 3 metres, so that it can be hardwired into the hot tub controller. The live, neutral and earth cores must be clearly identified, and the cable must be a maximum of 6 sq mm. Any cable run externally or underground should be armoured.

Swim spas require a 40A electrical supply. For 40A models, a 40A circuit breaker and 3-core armoured cable with a minimum 10mm diameter are required, and installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician. The supply must also be capable of being isolated.

Please note: if a suitable electrical supply has not been provided, we will be unable to commission the hot tub on delivery. Any return visits required may incur additional charges.

Delivery & Access

Your hot tub will be delivered on a flatbed truck or trailer, so please ensure there is suitable access to your driveway and to the final position where the spa will be installed.

The hot tub will then be manoeuvred into place using a dolly truck, with the spa mounted on its side during positioning. If you feel the dolly truck will not be suitable for accessing or positioning your hot tub, please let us know so we can discuss your individual requirements. We also offer a free site survey to assess the best options for delivery and installation, and if you are unsure, we strongly recommend arranging a visit to your property.

Swim spas will require a site survey as they are craned into position due to their size and weight.

We may have no alternative but to leave the spa at the entrance to your property if access cannot be achieved using the methods described in this delivery guide. To avoid disappointment, please check the following before delivery:

  • Can a 2.3 metre wide vehicle access your property?

  • Is the ground surface firm enough for the dolly truck to travel over?

  • Are doorways, gateways and alleyways wide and tall enough for the hot tub dimensions? Please note that the dolly truck will add 200mm to the height of the spa.

  • Are there any drainpipes, taps, lights or steps obstructing the route?

  • Are there any steps that the dolly truck cannot safely travel over?

  • Is there sufficient space to manoeuvre the hot tub around any tight corners?

Water Supply

Your hot tub does not need to be plumbed into a permanent water supply. Please provide a water supply with an adequate length of hosepipe at the time of delivery. Depending on water pressure, it can take up to 3 hours to fill larger spas. An additional supply from a friendly neighbour can speed up the installation process.

Balance Payment

When we call to confirm your delivery date, we will also ask you to pay any outstanding balance 24 hours prior to delivery.

Please pay the balance by bank transfer to the account details on your order confirmation, using your postcode as the reference.

Returns Policy

We understand that sometimes things go wrong.  Whilst this is very rare, we will work with you to find a solution you are happy with.  All hot tubs are covered by the manufacturers warranty, but this does not affect consumer rights that a product has to be fit for purpose.   If you change your mind within 15 days of the delivery of your product, we will come and collect your product and issue a refund; however, the delivery costs and costs for collect your product will be deducted from the refund amount.  If the product has been damaged in any way, the cost of these repairs will also be deducted from the refund amount.  We will put these costs in writing to you and explain our decision.
